As case in point is Victoria Dean, inmate 84930 currently serving time at ASPC Perryville, Goodyear, AZ.  Unfortunately Victoria went to the joint for armed robbery and is set for release in 2015.  She aspires to work with youths and adults in recovery.  As you can see from the photos she posted on line, she loves the Easter Bunny and Flipper!

Ms. Dean was not the subject of the investigation, just one of many that may or may not be what they project.  Maybe the other photos are her from a bygone time.  Maybe they are someone else and were taken and used for a purpose they did not give permission for.  In any event…be afraid, be very afraid.

I spoke to the Arizona Department of Corrections the other day.  They were unconcerned about the useage of anothers photos but seemed to understand what the puporse of the site and the deception was all about.  Money.  They also thought that only suckers and dirty old men would be fool enough to fall for it.  If only that were true.  I get calls from people frequently that are using computer dating sites and even in the normal world there is a high chance for deception.  Many of the complaints I see is the photo does match the person upon first meeting.

It should be noted that some of the sites have taken on a volunteer policy of screening for sex offenders.

The Attorney General of Arizona had a good time with Great Expectations some years ago.  The sales rep would pull out photos of striking young women and lay them out as part of the pitch.  It seems there was some question as to whether they were even members and the percentage of female to male membes as well as the claims that they did criminal background checks on prospective clients was, well…dubious.

Recently I had a case where a mature lady from the east coast met a younger man who appreciated those a bit older than he and had a profile on websites the specialized in mature dating.  Her alarm bells went off and hired me to find out what he was doing because they were getting serious as in she buying a house here so he could live in it and she would have a place to stay when she came into town.

I caught him on several sites under different user names.  The GPS I put on his car showed me where he was going which allowed me to get photos and video of him having lunch with another older gal when he was supposed to be watching the game at home.  Ah yes Watson, the game is afoot.

Nothing much suprises me any more.  The client knew what was going on but instead of kicking him to the cumb decided to try and work it out.  You would be suprised how many do.

Sounded to me like she was selling Search Engine Optimization, (SEO).  After the opening lie I am not really ready to listen to any more so I shut the conversation down and she went away.

So I Goolge Yodle and came upon this website, http://www.yodle.com/services/.  Yes…Yes..it looks like a SEO service that builds websites and does the normal SEO work.  Are they a good company?  I don’t know.  Are they bad?  Again I don’t know…all I know is their represenative lied to me from the beginning.  Perhaps a little lie but I think these things can be a problem later when you are trying to address issues that may have gone badly for you.  I am concerned about a company that would foster deceit in the opening sales pitch to me.

I have learned a bit about SEO over the years.  Enough to be on the front page of Google organically for every key word or phrase I want.  So why would I want them?  Did they do any homework at all?  And so I build this new blogpost about this company.  Maybe people with similar issues will respond.  They were nice enough to put some of their customers on the web site.  Maybe the customers should know about my problem. 

I recently was solicited by a company in the UK asking for help with a creditors rights problem.  They claim they loaned almost half a million dollars to a firm that was late on payments and wanted to use my services to help effectuate payments.

 When casually researching both companies they look legit and in fact are legit.  One is publicly traded.  The names on the emails are in fact officers of each company, though the email does not come from the company rather a Yahoo account which of course is a sign.

 The prospective “client” wanted me to be the US rep to help recover the receivable.  The debtor would send me the money and I would put it in trust and remit back all but $10K, my fee, to them.  The “client” sent me a promissory note executed by both parties in addition to a bank wire showing the money sent and received.  On the surface the note would have passed the smell  test with someone that doesn’t do as many financial cases as I do but this one had some issues.

Some of the issues are a CEO of large companies would not communicate directly with me rather they would have staff, legal or otherwise do this.  The communication would come from company email or letter head.  There are other issues I  won’t bore you with.

Instead of calling the number in the email, I called the number on the internet and was put in contact with UK legal counsel who confirmed this was a scam.  All information was sent to law enforcement there.

I then emailed the “client” and agreed to accept the money and promptly received an email from the debtor with CC to “client” indicating that a check for $285,000.00 would be coming to my address for me to put into my bank as agent for the creditor.  The email used was one letter off the real company’s domain and when I traced the domain ownership I see it is owned by…wait for it…a Nigerian.

 I am well aware that this isn’t that new though it is a bit of a twist on the model.  The check I will receive will be fraudulent.  If I put it in the bank, I will be asked to remit back all but 10K.  In 30 days the bank will come back and tell me the check was a forgery and debit my account $276k.

Normally I wouldn’t spend much time on something like this but unfortunately a law firm got stuck for $500,000.00 when they remitted back from their trust account.  No doubt most of us are too smart for something like that but just in case you’re an attorney…be careful.

I have been leading on my Nigerian friends and today I received a cashiers check for $280,000.00.  Looks pretty good too.  I am supposed to deposit it into my trust account and keep $10,000.00 for my trouble.  They will contact me later and give instructions on how to get the $270,000.00 to them.

Latino youth advocate stands accused

When Jesus Silva was arrested in August 2011 after his wife said he assaulted her, Walt Hunter, Silva’s friend and mentor, called the one person he trusted to help the undocumented 26 year-old: Sonia Orozco. Back in 2002, Hunter and Orozco, an ex-gang member turned award-winning gang-prevention counselor, were a team of at-risk youth counselors at the Midvale Boys & Girls Club. They counseled Silva and many other undocumented youths who wanted to leave gang life but had nowhere to turn.

Nothing too big or too small
